Vinturi 6702 Deluxe 7-Piece Wine Aerator Set Vinturi 6702 Deluxe 7-Piece Wine Aerator Set

The vinturi is the third we have purchased (for ourselves and for gifts). It does exactly as advertised making wine right out of the bottle taste like it's been opening for an hour or more. We love it and so do the people we gave them to for gifts.

Don't expect a miracle, but it does help. I usually let a good glass of red wine sit for about an hour to an hour and a half before drinking it. The Vinturi product cannot match this, however, it is equivalent to letting wine sit for about 15 to 20 minutes. If that's what you are used to doing, you'll be happy. If you really let your wine age properly, you won't be happy unless you are simply using the device to speed up the process. Using the Vinturi and then letting the wine sit for an hour produces a nice wine. It can cut about 30 minutes off the normal process without the aerator. I tested the device on four bottles of good reasonably priced wines. They were - 1) Bogel Old Vine Zinfandel (2007) - full body, very good Zin $11 2) Rodney Strong Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon (2007) - very good Cabernet that needs some air $18 3) Shenandoah Vineyards Zinfandel Special Reserve (2008) - very nice full body zin $10 4) Grand Pacific Vineyards Heritage Red table Wine (2007) - surprisingly decent inexpensive and easily drinkable $7 The aerator worked to some degree on all of the wines, but on the full bodied Cabs and Zins, it really couldn't begin to compete with letting a glass of wine sit in a wide glass for 90 minutes. For the table wine, it did a better job, but there was still a noticeable difference between letting it age naturally and using the aerator. Blind tests on all of the wines showed modest improvements over drinking the wine straight out of the bottle, but also showed significant difference between aerating and further aging. Next point, the tower is a joke. It enhances splattering instead of preventing it. The only way to use the tower and stop splatter is to jam the opening below the rim of the glass. Without the tower, the device isn't bad.

I bought this kit for a friend's birthday, and he loves it. I've used it and it's amazing at how quickly it aerates wine. I would recommend this for any wine enthusiast.

Great gift for party giver. Pricey if not on special. Not sure how much it may improve the taste of the wine - but is fun to use.

I had used this at a friend's house and it worked great. So much so that I went out and got one. One of the things that was also nice is if there is a bunch of sediment in the wine that this helps to filter it. Also you can tell the difference when you use it. I would recommend it

I ordered the Magic Decanter after experiencing the Vinturi decanter. They look the same and to my knowledge, work the same and deliver the same results - with the major difference being that the Magic Decanter costs $20 less. We are very satisfied with the results and have used it on several bottles already. Can't say that I can truly attest to a taste improvement, but then...maybe I need to buy cheaper wine (wink). Bottom line: we're very pleased with the purchase and feel it is a worthwhile value. We bought several more as gifts for friends.

Was not overly impressed. Added little to the taste of 10$ wine. Holder is nice to avoid dripping wine everywhere. Makes for a cheap gift or conversation piece with friends.

This performs as well as other more well recognized products, at a lower price point. Double-blinded, and blind folded, I correctly identified the glass that had been aerated however, taste is subjective, and not everyone in our group did. This is certainly a gadget item, and really only serves to speed up the time from bottle to glass, that would otherwise take a few hours in a decanter. Younger, less expensive wines seem to benefit the most. Worth noting: The 2 injection points (where the air is pulled in) are directly across from each other, so air is not pulled in equally from both sides. I doubt this makes any real difference in the taste of the pour, but it does make for a strange pattern of sound.

I wonder if mine is defective. I believe it works; it really opens up the wine as if it's been decanted and then some. However - I can't stand how messy it is! I'm adept at pouring a glass of wine and twisting the bottle to avoid the drip or any need for a wipe. This device ruins all that and makes it far too messy to pour wine in front of others. The opening at the top is of course smaller than a glass of wine so that's one challenge but even worse is that the two small aeration(?) holes on the sides don't just let in air - they leak wine! So you have to make sure this thing is centered over the glass while pouring so that any bursts from the holes still land the wine in the glass. And then of course remember the bottle-twist. But even worse than that challenge is when you move the 'magic decanter' from one glass to another, it drips ~75% of the time. Sure, you can shake it to remove the last drops but it's still messy. The best solution I've found is to use this when pouring into a real decanter to minimize all the dripping, however I'd need a decanter with a bigger mouth --- and isn't this device supposed to remove the need for an actual decanter? Seriously, maybe mine's defective.

This product works really great. I purchased it as a gift for a friend.

I bought a pair of these for $9.99. After trying it on my lawn, I realize this is not gonna work. Although this product appears to be a good design, it has one fundamental problem. Since it does not remove soil from the turf, it creates nothing but compacted tiny holes in the ground. Before you even see any benefit, a good rain will cause the soil to expand and close up these tiny holes. I will try EZ CORE found on ebay next time.

All the previous reviews are correct. The straps are too long. But you do not have to yank it so hard that it would break. One can find a way to keep them on without much difficulty. I tested a small portion of my yard and it has given good results. The real test will come this fall when I try the whole yard.

Good shoes. I used them to do an epoxy coating in my garage. Left no marks ...

I was hesitant to order these spike shoes because of some of the negative responses I have read. But, the set I got had metal buckles on them, so I had no problems with anything breaking. You need to make sure to put the straps through the buckles several times to make sure they don't come loose. For some reason I had to tighten the right shoe several times while the left side never came loose. Overall, the spikes worked well. Make sure to water whatever area you are going to do prior to using them. It will help them sink in better. Also, be ready for a good leg workout. Overall, I am satisfied with these and would recommend them. The grass is coming back where I aerated it. I fertilized and watered the areas really well (keep watering for several days).

I am not sure why the reviews are so horrible. These are cheap, plastic shoes, with spikes on the bottom. Give the yard a good watering, or wait till it rains. The straps arent great, but after a few tries you will get then to fit perfectly. Planted grass and clover with these, and they worked great.

I've used this on my lawn a couple times now. Works good. You have to keep an eye on it and make sure the plugs of dirt are coming out the top. I had to clean out the holes several times because they plug up and then you are defeating the purpose. I have not had any problems with bending or breaking. I have probably spent around 8 hours using this with no problems other than it plugging up a few times.

The item is very well built. I have a very large lawn so I did a little at a time. It's a full body workout so be prepared to work hard. The lawn is starting to respond. With a little fertilzer and lawn seed my lawn should look spectacular by earl September. Can't wait!! Worth the investment, but wouldn't recommend for huge lawns.

Purchased to aerate yard. Does great job, it's built to last. Happy with the purchase.

this works great on my densely compacted, rocky, and sandy lawn. really much more sturdier than some other customer reviews make it seem. and, cores do pop out with the next couple of plugs are done. i have had success with rocking it back/forth a little before pulling it out, this helps reduce that much more compaction. of course, you should be aware of your particular case, in order to prevent any handle or core tube snapping (as expressed in some other reviews). i am just saying that in my case, i do not experience such issues. i'll have to see how beneficial the plug aeration is after a week or so...

This was a fine aerator, and I would recommend it to anyone. I have a front and backyard of about 1000 square feet total, and it took about 30 minutes to aerate the lawn as instructed. It can become a bit of a workout, but compared to the cost of a hiring a company to do this, it pays for itself the first time you use it. When used in conjunction with other lawn practices, watering, fertilizing, the use of this tool did improve the health and appearance of the lawn. The durable construction combined with the need to aerate once a year, should ensure this product will continue to be used for years.

Reviews

I bought this from Amazon when we started having to spend a lot of time in the yard weeding the flower beds. The constant bending over, grabbing, and pulling took a toll on my hands and back. I'd read a review of this product on a web site whose opinions I trust, and decided to get one. Overall, I'm pleased with it. To pull a weed with this edger all you need to do is position it over the center of the plant, push down on the device, and pull it up by the handle. Its spikes surround the root of the weed and pull it (and a plug of dirt about the size of a C or D battery) out of the ground. Push down on the black knob and it spits out the weed. If you use this on small-to-medium weeds right after a rain, it will be one of the easiest weeding jobs you've ever done. You'll pull up weed after weed, using the black knob to eject them right into your lawn waste receptacle. You probably won't have to bend down at all. My biggest complaint about this device is that periodically it "sticks" after picking up a weed and you have to apply a fair amount of force or a good "smack" on the black knob to release the weed. It's really good at pulling up random weeds, dandelions, and smaller plants. It's not so good with things that have wide, shallow roots like crabgrass. It's also not so good for anything large or with really deep roots, as it only goes about 3-4 inches into the soil. If you keep after your lawn and flower beds, though, you probably don't have anything like that in there that you need to worry about. And if you do, there's always the old fashioned way - but at least you won't be having to bend down for EVERY weed you pull.

Excellent, heavy duty product that delivers on its promise. Like it so well, bought more for early Christmas gifts and have received appreciative comments on the device's effectiveness. Would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to weed their lawn without bending over. It has the side benefit of aerating the lawn. A++++++++++++++++++.......

This tool is best used after a rain when the ground is likely to be willing to give up the root. It pulls up dandelions very easily compared to other hand weeders out there. I didn't give it a five star rating because the release mechanism can sometimes be a bit stubborn and hard on your hand. But I've recommended it to anyone complaining about dandelions. Passersby (both pedestrians and cars) have stopped to ask me about the tool--I've yet to pull a Tom Sawyer on them and get them to do my weeding for me, tho . . . ):)

Had the same experience as several others. I can only get it to pull up a small part of the root. I have a Fiskars weed eater that works much, much better, but unfortunately the model has been discontinued.

I ordered this product after reading some customer reviews and now I've experienced some of the first results of using this product. My parents have an acre lot in the country with some trees and also open areas of lawn. I took the weed hound out to their front lawn right after a spring rain and found that it worked great in areas that are not very close to trees. I carried a 5 gallon bucket for the dandelions, and I could not believe that in under one hour I had it overflowing with the dandelion plants with LONG TAP ROOTS!!! I also had a small container of patch grass seed with me, and I sprinkled a little of that seed mix over every place I had removed a dandelion. Yes, the weed hound does remove some of the surface soil around the weed, but it's just a little larger area than a normal aeration machine would leave in the lawn. We continued to have rain, and the patch grass seed filled in very well. After a few mowings it's very hard to tell that a plug of dirt was removed from the lawn. Some things to note regarding areas with trees...stubborn little dandelions seem to adapt their tap roots and curve around the tree roots...this tool cannot really remove the WHOLE tap root as often in that situation. But we all know that lawn area under trees is a bit more of a challenge than other areas of a lawn. I still recommend this product for how quickly it can take care of the open areas that are damp, and I can't believe how much better the lawn looks with just that quick process of the weed hound after a rainy day and a little bit of patch grass seed. Even better - my parents well water tastes normal without having any nasty weed-killing chemicals applied to their lawn. YOU GOTTA LOVE THOSE RESULTS!!!!

The last pump I had was an Attwood 500 gph pump, it worked great for a lot of years then finally gave up the goast. I decided to go to an 800 gph pump, it connected up just like the 500, but it really pumps more water while it is running so it should call for less running time. I like the way this pump comes apart to clean trash from the impella. My old pump did not have that and it was real hard to keep cleaned out in trashey water. Love it.

My livewell and bait tank aerator died and I needed a replacement. The Attwood 500 fit the bill for my 10 year old boat, I installed the new unit and back to the lake. New unit replaced original unit perfectly, no additional cutting or hose additions. Unit works great, great replacement part. Everyone is happy again.

Got to use the new aerator pump the other day and it worked great. kept the fish alive in the live well.

For the price, its ok. Its lightweigth and brainless to use. My only poblem since day 1 until now is the on/off switch. Every single time that I'm planning to use it, I have to take a look of the wires and make sure the connections are rigth so it turns on. Once that is done, it will work the whole day and maybe for the next 5 days. After that period of time, it wont turn on again, so i have to open it and check the wires and connections until its fix. But as i said before, for the price, its ok.

This is a compact, efficient, and quiet aerator that seems to get the job done. It only takes one battery and there is room to store an extra one right inside of the unit. The aerator stone works great. I wish the hose was a little longer, but it's more than enough for use on a 5-gallon bucket. Overall, a good product.
