I've tried 2 of the slide batteries in black and 1 silver series-- they're all junk. After 6 months you're lucky if they hold 1/2 a charge. Using the firestorm sawzall, a fully charged 6 month old silver series battery won't cut thru 3-2x4's without dying. Have 3 different batteries and even with the better (orange) charger They don't hold a candle to my Makita's 18 v with 1.5 ahm. li-ion batteries. Wake up B&D-build a decent battery.

It is unfortunate that these batteries loose their charge so quickly. I always keep a spare with me because I know whatever tool I'm using will run out of "juice" after 10 minutes. Come on B & D, battery technology has advanced for other companies.

I bought an 18V B&D cordless drill kit about five years ago, and built a house with it. (Subfloor screwing, drywall, metal roofing, etc.). When the batteries finally bought the farm, I thought about just buying a new battery. Why buy one battery for $40 when you can buy a cordless drill kit at china*mart for $69, and get two batteries plus a new drill-driver??? That's what I did. However, let me tell you: the new drill-driver is a POS compared to the version from 5 years ago. My older model has torque settings that go up in 2-pt increments up to 22, and that feature works fairly poorly, but the new one only has 6 settings, and I think overall, the quality is much worse. I'll only buy B&D as a throw-away tool. When you spend 100-150k building a house, cheap junk that gets the job done is okay by me. :) I'd rather have quality tools, though. Wish I could buy a Bosch cordless drill. It would be the bomb.

I've had tools that use these batteries for about 5 years now. This is a replacement one and I sure can't complain how long they last. I do yard maintenance every week and the tools I have that use these batteries are so handy. Had one battery finally decide not to power up enough anymore, so this is a replacement. I love my tools that use these batteries; easy, lightweight, and long lasting.

I got this battery for our Black and Decker hedge trimmer. My original batteries are now five years old and one was getting weak on run time on a charge. These batteries are exceptional in how much energy they hold and in keeping their charge. I can run about an hour on a battery and that is a lot of work. We used to have a Home Depot brand hedge trimmer and it was junk. The batteries pooped out in about a year and were over twice the cost to replace and the new ones were junk too, plus their run time was less than half.

When this trimmer first arrived, it came in a box so small i thought there was some kind of mistake.when i opened it up, i realized that the trimmer came in three seperate parts, attached together by an electrical cord. very space saving and compact. even after you connect the 3 pieces together, it is not a very large tool, and is very light. as for how it performs, it does its job satisfactorily. i would have to go over certain areas more than once, but i did that with my old trimmer so it is not an issue for me. although i don't need to do it much, this trimmer seems to be easier to feed more line than my old trimmer. i don't use the bump feed, but rather i just push down on the cap and pull out the desired string. still works fine. overall, i'm very satisfied. i'm not sure how long this trimmer wil last, but even if it last only 5 more uses, i still would have gotten my money's worth.

I have a lot of large pots under trees and in other grassy areas.....I love this trimmer. Its small head is perfect for getting in between pots---I don't have to shove heavy pots around to keep grass, asian jasmine, etc., tidy in all the areas where I've grouped bunches o' pots. All the other trimmers I could find were WAY too big. It's also a perfect size to allow me to do some pretty intricate edging in tight areas. This trimmer is GREAT. And amazingly sturdy for the price! I'm on my second one.....the first stood up to 6 years of heavy use. I was so glad to finally find a replacement!

The product is just ok, I probably would have sent back, but cheap enough so it will work in a few areas around the home, and I did not want to pay return shipping. Will just keep practicing to get better performance I think. I am sure it will be ok for small jobs. As usual you get what you pay for.

great for a person with back problems since it is so lightweight. The cord can be a pain in the butt to haul it around a large yard, but it is worth it for me since I have a bad back. It takes care of very tall (~6 inches), thick grass even though it isn't the strongest motor.

I was not sure if this lite weight trimmer could do the job,To my amazement and for the awesome price,It was Great I give it 2 thumbs up

I got this on Wednesday, charged the battery and went out to attack the weeds on my 1/2 acre lot Thursday morning at first light (6:15 AM). Unit is very quiet, no complaints from neighbors. I was able to cut the weeds in the back yard, switch to edging and edged the driveway and then started to trim the front yard. Battery ran out before I finished. It went for about 25 minutes of pretty much solid on whacking. The grass was over a foot high and wet, so I didn't expect too much. I am happy with the performance. Not as fast as my old gas model for sure, but it is lighter and easier to use without killing my back. 1/2 hour of trimming is all I want to do at one time anyway. The edger was great. The wheels help take the strain off your back since you can rest it on the cement driveway as you walk along. This unit is not going to dig any trenches, but I'm fine with that. I never used to edge anyway, but this is so easy, from now on I will edge after any trimming. Concerning the auto line feed - After 10 minutes of solid trimming, I needed to stop and restart the trimmer to advance the string. I actually used the manual button on the spool and pulled out what I needed. This thing is working OK. I just need to let it stop every few minutes to advance more line. I'm generally happy with the purchase, but really wanted a 36Volt Lithium model, but couldn't find one.

Delivery was prompt. Assembly was very easy. It trims grass as any trimmer would do but I like the light weight and many adjustments to make it fit the current cutting conditions. I am especially impressed with the edging performance. This is a light weight trimmer (line is only 0.65") but it acts like a larger edger. The line actually cuts a groove into the ground and does a very nice job. The trimmer also cuts thicker growth than I expected. I have a small lot (but a lot of cement curbing around our landscaping) so I can't really comment on the amount of time the battery will last. The charger does fully charge in approximately 1/2 hour so I can plug it in before I start cutting grass and by the time I'm finished cutting, the battery will be fully charged. I've already taken advantage of the free spools for life - ordered 6 spools for approximately $6 (shipping and handling) and I think that is a great deal.

I WAS LOOKING FOR A NICE NON POLLUTING TRIMMER FOR MY SMALL YARD....THE REGULAR BATTERY WORX MODEL WAS $100 AND THE BEST LITHIUM BATTERY MODEL WAS $150...I SPRUNG FOR THE BEST ONE.....CUTTING POWER WAS WEAK..I EXPECTED A LITTLE MORE CUTTING POWER WITH THE THICK STRING THE MODEL USES...I WOULD HAVE PUT UP WITH THIS IF THE BATTERY HAD NOT BEEN SO WEAK...I CHARGED IT 30 HOURS BEFORE USING..I GOT 15 MINUTES RUN TIME...CHARGED IT AGAIN,FULL LONG CHARGE...AGAIN..15 MINUTES...JUST NOT WORTH IT...WENT TO HOME DEPOT AND GOT THE LIGHTEST WEIGHT STRAIT SHAFT "GREEN" TRIMMER BY RYOBI,THAT COMES WITH 2 HEADS ,ONE IS LIKE THE WORX,YOU JUST CUT 2 II" PIECES AND INSERT THROUGH THE SLOTS..no winding !!!!....THE RYOBI IS FAR FAR MORE POWERFUL,NOT HEAVY AT ALL, CHEAPER THAN THE WORX AND EXCEEDS CALIFORNIAS TOUGH EMISSION STANDARDS...

Unfortunately I have only had the chance to use this once..wrong time of the year. But it shipped quick and came with all it was supposed to and the 1 time I used it.. it worked great! SO love that it has a rechargeable battery ( no more dragging cords around!!) although that makes it somewhat heavier in hand, it is WELL worth it! The battery charged very quickly so I'm not really concerned if the charge doesn't last too long.

This item lasted less than a minute before it failed. The spool cannot be removed and it is basically useless. The poor design call s into question all McCulloch products.
