Victor 0631 Out of Sight Mole Trap Victor 0631 Out of Sight Mole Trap

Five hours after I set two traps I had trapped a mole; I was truly surprised to see one trap sprung and at first thought it must have accidently tripped; I pulled the trap out of the ground and there was a dead mole, the trap had done its job perfectly. I had lived at my house for over 30 years and this mole infestation was a first. When I started seeing the raised soil trails and dead grass I suspected I had somehow gotten a mole in my yard. I started reading everything I could find on the web and started getting free advice from friends. I called the pest service we use and the man suggested I buy the Victor trap as that was the one they used and the cost of them coming out and setting the traps could get very expensive. I read the Amazon reviews on the trap and they were generally helpful so I decided to buy the Victor traps. The general advice was to locate active runs by pressing down the soil that had been displaced by the mole which I did and then followed up with a hose to really flatten them down. Sure enough the following day certain trails had been raised up again and I selected one of those to place the traps. My yard has a sandy soil mixed with clay; it is also rather root infested so I followed several recommendations which said it was important to cut away any roots that might hinder the traps free movement. Before I placed the trap that caught the mole; I used a straight edged steel edger and pressed it down into the soil where the trap would be placed; sure enough I had to cut through several roots that crossed that area. I used my foot to press down the raised area where the trap would be placed. It took a little experimentation to finally get the trap set; I had never set a trap before so this was all new to me. It does take some pressure to set the trap; there is a safety latch which can be engaged first but then additional pressure with the tools provided is needed to actually set the trigger. I left the safety latch in place until the trap was set in the ground and I had pressed it down so the trigger was resting on the soil. Once that was all done I released the safety latch and the trap was ready. I covered the trap with a garden pot to keep the area dark and protect it from being disturbed by local cats and dogs. This was all done late yesterday morning and by mid afternoon it had trapped a mole. I will update this review if anything of interest happens. In the meantime both traps are in place waiting for the next mole.

This trap is great. I've read the reviews and once you get the hang of setting this trap, you realize it is simply awesome. As mentioned by others: DO NOT FOLLOW THE BOX INSTRUCTIONS. What you need to do: 1- bend the trigger down a little 2- use spade shovel in the turf to make slots (2) for the jaws. 3- use good sized wood chips to obstruct an active run near the surface--enough so that the trigger rests on the wood when placed. 4- check trap daily...you'll be surprised how many moles use the same run. Once I figured this trap out, I've killed 6 in the very first 2 weeks!!!

Live in Florida and bought 4 of these traps based on the reviews here. This trap seems rather large for the size moles we have here in Florida. The tunnels which I could find are no bigger than 1 inch. The soil is so sandy that the trigger gets covered up and the tunnels collapse when trying to set this trap. I did as suggested and leveled the fist size mounds to see where the active tunnels were which showed up the next day. Not one trap went off. As far as placing the trap with the trigger above the ground (as suggested by some reviewers here) this makes no sense as the tunnels are NOT RAISED and there is no way the trap will go off. The traps were placed with the trigger in the tunnel so the moles would go under it and trigger the trap. Anyone living in a hot sandy soil area who has found a trap that will work please post.

Another mole hunter from St Louis here. I have tried everything: pellets, smoke bombs, different poisons, flooding the holes, a pretty useless trap sold in Lowes and Home Depot (I did get one mole last year with this but it's very weak and flimsy. I think I was lucky). A friend of mine told me she was fed up and was going to pay a professional to catch her moles. He caught 2 of them in a couple of weeks and she hasn't had a problem since. I asked her if she could figure out what kind of trap he used. Well, this is the one! Since I bought these traps a few months ago, I have caught 5 moles (that includes 1 for my neighbor). Despite having caught 4 moles in my front and back yards, there is still new activity from time to time. I think they cover the whole neighborhood. I have some traps in my yard and a couple in my neighbor's across the street. I have purchased 6 traps (they are a great price and VERY sturdy) and I'm about to purchase 2 more to send to my in-laws. The way I have found these work for me is as follows: 1. Try to pick out a tunnel that looks like a common route or "freeway." For me, it's usually close to a path or driveway where they have hit the "wall" and work their way along it. Don't stomp all the raised tunnels down unless there are so many you need to find a place to start. 2. By keeping the tunnel open and just pushing down the dirt in the area you intend to place the trap, the next time the mole comes by he will just start digging his way right into the trap. I like to keep the soil pretty loose where the trap is going to be placed so when the ground gets hard and baked, the trap will still be able to spring shut quickly. Just make sure the holes on both sides of the trap are covered. The dirt in the compressed area is usually about an inch or less below the rest of the ground. 3. Remember to use the safety catch when placing the trap in the ground. You want to make sure the flat base of the trap, (the part the mole will push up when he tunnels to trigger the trap) is well set in the ground and the four spikes in the ground are on either sides of the tunnel. It may be a little difficult to set the trap but it's not THAT hard to do. Come on! 4. Be patient. The first time I set a trap I had a mole in less than twelve hours. The last one I caught was in a trap in my garden which I had set 3 weeks earlier. Of course if you see new activity in a different area, you may want to move the trap. Trial and error. ****Somebody else claimed these traps are hard to set. Yes, the springs on them are very strong and it takes a little elbow grease. The trap does come with tools to help you set the trap. If it wasn't this strong I may as well use the useless trap from Lowes.

I ordered 2 of these traps in the spring. The mole runs tend to show up only in the late summer/fall where I live, and I finally opened them up to use them. One of the traps did not have a trigger pan, so it is useless. I have just set the other one, but would sure like to get the other one replaced, but it would appear that due to the passage of time, I am no longer able to get a refund/replacement for the defective on.

Tried this product to keep mice and rats away from our BBQ and crawlspace. Did not work whatsoever!

We followed directions - mice still around, mouse droppings in the granules - cannot recommend

I live on 5 acres and had a bad mice infestation. I got this stuff and put it in little containers all throughout the house ( need containers because it smells like urine and will leave the scent on floors or where ever, but you can't smell it) and also sprinkled around the outside of the house. Mice were gone in 24 hours!!!! I get this every spring!!!

This is a really good product. It works. I ordered two containers of shake away rodent repellant and one of them was wet. after a email to the seller I was refunded the price of one without any questions. I will buy from them again.

After putting this product down around the outside of my house, I notice the yard was empty of rabbits and squirrells! But we did spot a field mouse in the house but dealing with catching the critter! It is working pretty good but we will see if it "REALLY" works.

Average Rating:

Shake-Away repellent granules have an odor that signals danger to all pest critters and are less messy than liquid. Patented formula won't burn plants, bushes or trees. Heavy granules won't wash away in rain - and they're naturally moist for better "cling...

Unfortunately my bunnies and woodchucks are not intimidated by Shake Away. I had high hopes for this product but the critters are not fooled. I put it on three times the first week, two times the second week and third week and once a week since. They are still eating my zucchini plants and my beautiful cantalope. They also have an occassional nibble on my cucumbers as well. I wish I could say this worked for me but it does not. I think I will call to see if they will honor the refund.

So I'm doing work in my backyard and dug a bunch of trenches. There is a lot of soft dirt that is piled along the top of the trench now. The cat from two houses away now thinks this is the best place crap in the neighborhood, lotsa soft dirt right. So I bought this product and sprinkled some of it out on the dirt, hoping it would be that easy. I noticed that a little bit didn't stop the cat. So I used the entire bottle for an area about ten feet long. This stuff does smell like some type of animal urine. Next day, I see the damn cat pawing at the dirt trying to cover what it just left me. This might work for animals that know what a predator's urine smells like, but my neighbor's cat has no idea so the crapping continues. Maybe two stars is a bed eval because I tried it on a cat and not a "Small Critter", but to say the least it didn't work for me.

Neighbor across the street lets his two cats run in my front yard. Sprinkled a 20oz can of Shake Away around my front perimeter. Cats came across, sniffed it, sat in it, then spent twice as much time walking around my yard. Had no effect on them what so ever.

I surrounded a few very vulnerable plants with a giant, stinky ring of this stuff, and the squirrels disregarded it completely, continuing their invasive incursions into my garden. Apparently fox urine is more repellant to humans than it is to the fox's natural prey, because the reek was overwhelming to me.

This did not work at all. I ended up buying a trap and trapping the critter.

Average Rating:

Shake Away label. 100% organic, natural, and safe. Powdered fox urine will keep squirrel, rabbit, skunk, chipmunk, woodchuck, possum, prairie dog, and others away with the fear factor of a predator. Won't burn plants...

Sweeneys 9011 Mole and Gopher Plunger Trap Sweeneys 9011 Mole and Gopher Plunger Trap

I have had a huge problem with moles in my yard and had no clue how I was going to get rid of them. I hated the thought of putting out poisons so I purchased this trap just to see if it would work. I have never used a mole trap before but figuring it out was very easy. I already knew where the active tunnel was so I pressed down on it and inserted the trap into the ground. I lifted it up and down several times to make sure debris was out of the way of the spikes. After I set it I went in the house and about 15 minutes later I noticed it was tripped. I went out and dug and sure enough I had a mole. Talk about quick results. I can't figure out why others are having trouble with it, but my experience was good and I would recommend this product to someone wanting to get rid of moles.

I have tried poisons for the past 2 years with no luck (except a dead rabbit which I wish was avoided). I bought two traps and got a mole in less than 24 hours. These are easy to set and very effective - you just have to have some idea of how to set these before you go out in your yard. I watched some videos on youtube which were quite helpful. I definitely recommend this product.

This contraption requires 2 people to set (or one person with three hands). As has been noted, it tends to rise out of the ground causing it to miss the target. On the whole, this is a useless piece of Cr@p, and should be avoided.

I've had this trap for 6 weeks plus and it's activated no less than 6 times. Quite simple it is junk, a flawed designed that cannot be improved. Every time it has activated it pushes itself out of the ground. With no penetration of the spikes in to the ground it lays lopsided...no affect on the mole. I have moved it around the yard (grass, dirt, and sand), tried deeper sets, and making a depression underneath the activation plate. But out of all the activations there is nothing to show for it. Absolutely buy something else, anything else.

I felt compelled to write a review for the Sweeney's Mole Trap because it has rid my yard of pesky moles. Both times I have used it I have impaled a mole within 24 hours. I didnt even have to move it around in different spots to get my kills either. The first one I got, the trap had been triggered but there was no mole to be found under the ground. I pulled out the trap and saw blood on one of the spikes and knew I had got him. The second one I got I found the lifeless body of a mole under the ground beneath the trap. This is truely a GREAT way to rid your yard of moles. I read bad reviews of the different types of poisons and electronic pulse thingys and decided to go right for the trap and I am glad I did.

Average Rating:

All steel construction. Mole trap, kills moles, easy activation. Find active tunnels by flattening tunnels by walking on them. Wait one day.

I tried the repellent and gas bombs, the only thing that worked were the traps. You have to dig a hole but if you don't kill the gophers they will destroy your yard so a hole is no big deal. I used the Sweeneys Gopher traps they worked great.Sweeneys 9013 Gopher Trap, 2-Pack As a follow up we have killed all the gophers on our 5 acres (at least the active ones), we did this in 3 days. We spent 3 months trying repellents and gas bombs.

This repellent needs a hard rain to soak into the ground, not just a sprinkler. The first couple applications I put down just seemed to freak the moles out, causing them to run into the good yard. i bought two more bags to make a thick barrier between my good yard and the mole infested areas, but now I have fresh new mole trails deep into the good part of the yard. The directions should say to wait until it rains. I don't think the sprinkler for 20-30 minutes does the job. I guess I will just have to use grub killer in the spring and hope my grass fills in over winter. F.

It works for just for about two or so weeks. I followed instructions to the T and actually double applied it just for safe measure since I was going away for two weeks. Well, after coming back, I had over 10 new large holes. It puts crop circles to shame. I turned to an animal control expert and they said, the problem I had, the tunnels are too deep. The product only works if the tunnels are close the surface. Anything greater than 2-4" is useless.

Moles and/or Voles were turning my garden into swiss cheese. After putzing around for 2 years, I put this stuff down twice about 7 days between apps, right before some forecasted rain showers...this really works. I have to admit, I put it down about 2x per the instructions, and then followed up with a liquid concentrate from another company, covering the gardens and lawn. I would definitely use this again!

I followed the directions and while I still see some raised areas of dirt indicating my mole friend has been around there are far less than there used to be. It may be that it just needs time to dissolve and sink into the soil. Overall I would give it a grade of a B.

Moles still came back. In my experience, I would recommend the dry granules - easier to apply and probably the same or better effectiveness.

P3 International P7901 Mole Chaser P3 International P7901 Mole Chaser

Don't waste your money on these Gopher Chasers - they DO NOT work at all and is a complete waste of money!!!! I had them in my yard for at least 6 months and the Gophers could not come in the yard fast enough.

After 20 days my moles continue digging happily all around this so called mole chaser; they do not seem affected or bothered at all by it, let alone being chased out. If you ask me, it was a waste of money and I should have listened to guys who left low ratings for it. I am just way too lazy to send it back and most likely will just throw it in the garbage where it belongs. I would like to see a unit working for those who left high ratings since I am puzzled by their claim. Either their moles are more sensitive, or something is wrong with their observations.

The housing on this model is plastic. It collapsed when I hammered it into the ground. Get the aluminum version. The affected area is not as large as claimed but these do work if placed correctly. You may need 4 to 6 to clear a lawn.

I've purchages these in the past at home shows and thought they worked great. I didn't have to use chemicals that may affect my animals or traps that I had to clear and my dogs no longer dug up my yard to kill them. My yard was for the most part Mole free for about 4 years. They're back with a vengance now. I had destroyed my old chasers with the lawn mower so ordered 2 new ones. The moles are even coming up withing 5 feet of the chasers. Much of what I've read indicates the moles left for a reason other than the chasers. Since they're territorial I'm guessing the dogs had already killed what we had and now we nave new ones. Guess I'll seek professional help for them going forward. Better spend your money in an area that's tried and true.

I came to this page to purchase another one of these devices, and I am surprised by negative reviews. I live in Washington near Seattle and the moles were gone almost instantly. In fact, after a week or two my wife asked me to turn it off, because it was also scaring off squirrels and raccoons, whom we don't consider pests to be bothered about their presence. We still occasionally turn it on every year for a week or two, when mole problem resurfaces, and it works again and again. BTW, it's not ultrasonic, you will hear that annoying noise, but as long as you know it works for you, it does not bother much. Also pets (my cats for sure) hear that noise too. They do worry at the beginning but then get used to it. I suspect many negative reviews come from incorrectly installed batteries, as they never mention any sound actually coming from the device, and I can hear it clearly.

Average Rating:

The P3 International P7901 Molechaser makes moles scram by emitting a penetrating sound that sets the rodents' sensitive hearing on edge. Operating in a circular pattern of 100 feet, the Molechaser also chases off ground squirrels, shrews, voles, pocket mice, and gophers...

P3 International P7906 Vibrasonic Mole Chaser P3 International P7906 Vibrasonic Mole Chaser

The Vibrasonic Mole Chaser is a joke. We bought four of them. We had new mounds with in inches of one of them a month after we installed them.

They work, but then the battery cost gets a little high. When they have battries in them they work perfect, when the battries start to fail the Voles (california mole)come right back in the yard. So staying on top of the D cells is very important. I tried the solar ones and they are junk, this is quality product and works for my needs.

When I initially placed the Mole Chaser in my front yard, within an hour a discoved a mole outside the ground in my yard. We rid ourselves of one mole. After that time, we continue to find mounds in our yard, frequently within a foot of the Vibrasonic Mole Chaser. Unfortunately, we were only able to rid ourselves of one mole. There are many still feasting in our yard. I am disappointed. We purchased two of the Mole Chasers, but we are disappointed.

I use 5 of these spread strategically over a 1 acre plot of property. My soil has a high clay content. You need to install these things so that they are tightly packed in the soil and so that underground obstacles (like your basement, the root ball of a huge oak tree, etc.) do not "block" the sound impulse. If you set them up properly, "interlock" the effective radii, and keep the batteries fresh (figure 3-4 months of battery life), you'll see a significant reduction in mole activity. Think in terms of interlocking radar fields or fields of machine gun fire. Do not hammer them into the ground!!!! Use a stake to make the pilot hole. I used to have a HUGE mole problem. I still get the occasional visitor, but they never stay for long. The green plastic cap can be hard to spot when it is battery changing time. Choose your locations carefully so that you can re-locate them. You're supposed to pull them in the wintertime -- but I leave them in place. There is a rubber gasket to seal the cap against the battery insert and the units are pretty much waterproof. One of mine has some moisture in it -- it still runs just fine -- I hear it rattling once every minute or so, just like the others. I recently killed one of these when I ran over it with the mower -- I destroyed the cap and badly damaged the threads -- so I ordered a replacement. I'm sure the inner noisemaker sleeve (a holder for 4 "D" batteries and a small electric motor which intermittently spins a washer, thereby making a "rattling" sound) is fine -- I'll keep it for spare parts. My surviving 4 units are 4 or five years old and going strong...

This is a great product. It works well. Just be made aware that this product takes 2-3 week before it's effective and that it's coverage area is smaller than what the box says so you should buy more than you need.
