Victor 0631 Out of Sight Mole TrapReviewsFive hours after I set two traps I had trapped a mole; I was truly surprised to see one trap sprung and at first thought it must have accidently tripped; I pulled the trap out of the ground and there was a dead mole, the trap had done its job perfectly. I had lived at my house for over 30 years and this mole infestation was a first. When I started seeing the raised soil trails and dead grass I suspected I had somehow gotten a mole in my yard. I started reading everything I could find on the web and started getting free advice from friends. I called the pest service we use and the man suggested I buy the Victor trap as that was the one they used and the cost of them coming out and setting the traps could get very expensive. I read the Amazon reviews on the trap and they were generally helpful so I decided to buy the Victor traps. The general advice was to locate active runs by pressing down the soil that had been displaced by the mole which I did and then followed up with a hose to really flatten them down. Sure enough the following day certain trails had been raised up again and I selected one of those to place the traps. My yard has a sandy soil mixed with clay; it is also rather root infested so I followed several recommendations which said it was important to cut away any roots that might hinder the traps free movement. Before I placed the trap that caught the mole; I used a straight edged steel edger and pressed it down into the soil where the trap would be placed; sure enough I had to cut through several roots that crossed that area. I used my foot to press down the raised area where the trap would be placed. It took a little experimentation to finally get the trap set; I had never set a trap before so this was all new to me. It does take some pressure to set the trap; there is a safety latch which can be engaged first but then additional pressure with the tools provided is needed to actually set the trigger. I left the safety latch in place until the trap was set in the ground and I had pressed it down so the trigger was resting on the soil. Once that was all done I released the safety latch and the trap was ready. I covered the trap with a garden pot to keep the area dark and protect it from being disturbed by local cats and dogs. This was all done late yesterday morning and by mid afternoon it had trapped a mole. I will update this review if anything of interest happens. In the meantime both traps are in place waiting for the next mole. This trap is great. I've read the reviews and once you get the hang of setting this trap, you realize it is simply awesome. As mentioned by others: DO NOT FOLLOW THE BOX INSTRUCTIONS. What you need to do: 1- bend the trigger down a little 2- use spade shovel in the turf to make slots (2) for the jaws. 3- use good sized wood chips to obstruct an active run near the surface--enough so that the trigger rests on the wood when placed. 4- check trap daily...you'll be surprised how many moles use the same run. Once I figured this trap out, I've killed 6 in the very first 2 weeks!!! Live in Florida and bought 4 of these traps based on the reviews here. This trap seems rather large for the size moles we have here in Florida. The tunnels which I could find are no bigger than 1 inch. The soil is so sandy that the trigger gets covered up and the tunnels collapse when trying to set this trap. I did as suggested and leveled the fist size mounds to see where the active tunnels were which showed up the next day. Not one trap went off. As far as placing the trap with the trigger above the ground (as suggested by some reviewers here) this makes no sense as the tunnels are NOT RAISED and there is no way the trap will go off. The traps were placed with the trigger in the tunnel so the moles would go under it and trigger the trap. Anyone living in a hot sandy soil area who has found a trap that will work please post. Another mole hunter from St Louis here. I have tried everything: pellets, smoke bombs, different poisons, flooding the holes, a pretty useless trap sold in Lowes and Home Depot (I did get one mole last year with this but it's very weak and flimsy. I think I was lucky). A friend of mine told me she was fed up and was going to pay a professional to catch her moles. He caught 2 of them in a couple of weeks and she hasn't had a problem since. I asked her if she could figure out what kind of trap he used. Well, this is the one! Since I bought these traps a few months ago, I have caught 5 moles (that includes 1 for my neighbor). Despite having caught 4 moles in my front and back yards, there is still new activity from time to time. I think they cover the whole neighborhood. I have some traps in my yard and a couple in my neighbor's across the street. I have purchased 6 traps (they are a great price and VERY sturdy) and I'm about to purchase 2 more to send to my in-laws. The way I have found these work for me is as follows: 1. Try to pick out a tunnel that looks like a common route or "freeway." For me, it's usually close to a path or driveway where they have hit the "wall" and work their way along it. Don't stomp all the raised tunnels down unless there are so many you need to find a place to start. 2. By keeping the tunnel open and just pushing down the dirt in the area you intend to place the trap, the next time the mole comes by he will just start digging his way right into the trap. I like to keep the soil pretty loose where the trap is going to be placed so when the ground gets hard and baked, the trap will still be able to spring shut quickly. Just make sure the holes on both sides of the trap are covered. The dirt in the compressed area is usually about an inch or less below the rest of the ground. 3. Remember to use the safety catch when placing the trap in the ground. You want to make sure the flat base of the trap, (the part the mole will push up when he tunnels to trigger the trap) is well set in the ground and the four spikes in the ground are on either sides of the tunnel. It may be a little difficult to set the trap but it's not THAT hard to do. Come on! 4. Be patient. The first time I set a trap I had a mole in less than twelve hours. The last one I caught was in a trap in my garden which I had set 3 weeks earlier. Of course if you see new activity in a different area, you may want to move the trap. Trial and error. ****Somebody else claimed these traps are hard to set. Yes, the springs on them are very strong and it takes a little elbow grease. The trap does come with tools to help you set the trap. If it wasn't this strong I may as well use the useless trap from Lowes. I ordered 2 of these traps in the spring. The mole runs tend to show up only in the late summer/fall where I live, and I finally opened them up to use them. One of the traps did not have a trigger pan, so it is useless. I have just set the other one, but would sure like to get the other one replaced, but it would appear that due to the passage of time, I am no longer able to get a refund/replacement for the defective on. Wire Tek 1001 EasySet Mole Eliminator TrapReviewsSimply genius in their simplicity. think jaws of life, but in reverse. If you have little raised mounds running in all directions, you need this device. I have 4 of them and they are always set somewhere on the property. On average I am killing 3 -5 moles /week. I suggest a min of 2, 4 wud be better. Go get em! I have a suburban home that backs to woods and I get many moles. Using two of these trap, I have caught 8 moles this year and 1 for a friend who I loaned the traps to. As with most traps, it's important to place the traps in active runs. Flatten all runs in the evening and look for new runs the next morning (you simply won't be successful if you don't have an idea of where the moles are active). Place traps in the new runs. Wet/damp areas are best as moles will move to the surface for feeding on worms (run a sprinkler if needed). Any trap will struggle in hard ground however these are far better than traps that plunge from the top. When setting the trap, the scissors open and create a channel to close on when triggered. The springs are strong and hard to open by hand (especially to release your catch) however I find them easy to set by stepping on them as instructed. You should make sure the trap is not tilted or smashed so far into the ground that it causes the mole to go around the trap. Use two traps to increase the chances of success. I generally leave the traps for one day and then move them if I've been unsuccessful. When it comes to mole wars, these are the most effective weapons I have found. I paid $38 each plus shipping for mine. We have a large landscaped area that has been plagued by moles for several years. We have paid companies to get rid of them, and bought countless other traps. In the end nothing seemed to work long-term, and results were very slow. Bought two of these traps, and didn't have much success the first week. It took me a week to determine which tunnels were active, but once I did I caught two moles within two days. One trap caught a mole 30 minutes after I set it. The one thing I should have done was stamp down all the tunnels in our landscape to see where they appeared the next day. This would have saved me a week trying to determine, which ones were active. This is so easy to set and move, and results were great. It took a little practice in setting the trap but once I got the hang of it it really does the job. You simply find a mole "run" insert the blades in the middle of the run and press down on the top with your foot. You can even see if you have a mole is the trap if it is in an upright position. Current score: Trap 3 - Moles 0. Trap should last for generations - extremely well made. caught the mole that was turning up our lawn with-in 4 days, the other mole trap we used never did the job. its easy and safe Average Rating:![]() |

P3 International P7901 Mole ChaserReviewsDon't waste your money on these Gopher Chasers - they DO NOT work at all and is a complete waste of money!!!! I had them in my yard for at least 6 months and the Gophers could not come in the yard fast enough. After 20 days my moles continue digging happily all around this so called mole chaser; they do not seem affected or bothered at all by it, let alone being chased out. If you ask me, it was a waste of money and I should have listened to guys who left low ratings for it. I am just way too lazy to send it back and most likely will just throw it in the garbage where it belongs. I would like to see a unit working for those who left high ratings since I am puzzled by their claim. Either their moles are more sensitive, or something is wrong with their observations. The housing on this model is plastic. It collapsed when I hammered it into the ground. Get the aluminum version. The affected area is not as large as claimed but these do work if placed correctly. You may need 4 to 6 to clear a lawn. I've purchages these in the past at home shows and thought they worked great. I didn't have to use chemicals that may affect my animals or traps that I had to clear and my dogs no longer dug up my yard to kill them. My yard was for the most part Mole free for about 4 years. They're back with a vengance now. I had destroyed my old chasers with the lawn mower so ordered 2 new ones. The moles are even coming up withing 5 feet of the chasers. Much of what I've read indicates the moles left for a reason other than the chasers. Since they're territorial I'm guessing the dogs had already killed what we had and now we nave new ones. Guess I'll seek professional help for them going forward. Better spend your money in an area that's tried and true. I came to this page to purchase another one of these devices, and I am surprised by negative reviews. I live in Washington near Seattle and the moles were gone almost instantly. In fact, after a week or two my wife asked me to turn it off, because it was also scaring off squirrels and raccoons, whom we don't consider pests to be bothered about their presence. We still occasionally turn it on every year for a week or two, when mole problem resurfaces, and it works again and again. BTW, it's not ultrasonic, you will hear that annoying noise, but as long as you know it works for you, it does not bother much. Also pets (my cats for sure) hear that noise too. They do worry at the beginning but then get used to it. I suspect many negative reviews come from incorrectly installed batteries, as they never mention any sound actually coming from the device, and I can hear it clearly. Average Rating:![]() |

Sweeneys 9011 Mole and Gopher Plunger TrapReviewsI have had a huge problem with moles in my yard and had no clue how I was going to get rid of them. I hated the thought of putting out poisons so I purchased this trap just to see if it would work. I have never used a mole trap before but figuring it out was very easy. I already knew where the active tunnel was so I pressed down on it and inserted the trap into the ground. I lifted it up and down several times to make sure debris was out of the way of the spikes. After I set it I went in the house and about 15 minutes later I noticed it was tripped. I went out and dug and sure enough I had a mole. Talk about quick results. I can't figure out why others are having trouble with it, but my experience was good and I would recommend this product to someone wanting to get rid of moles. I have tried poisons for the past 2 years with no luck (except a dead rabbit which I wish was avoided). I bought two traps and got a mole in less than 24 hours. These are easy to set and very effective - you just have to have some idea of how to set these before you go out in your yard. I watched some videos on youtube which were quite helpful. I definitely recommend this product. This contraption requires 2 people to set (or one person with three hands). As has been noted, it tends to rise out of the ground causing it to miss the target. On the whole, this is a useless piece of Cr@p, and should be avoided. I've had this trap for 6 weeks plus and it's activated no less than 6 times. Quite simple it is junk, a flawed designed that cannot be improved. Every time it has activated it pushes itself out of the ground. With no penetration of the spikes in to the ground it lays lopsided...no affect on the mole. I have moved it around the yard (grass, dirt, and sand), tried deeper sets, and making a depression underneath the activation plate. But out of all the activations there is nothing to show for it. Absolutely buy something else, anything else. I felt compelled to write a review for the Sweeney's Mole Trap because it has rid my yard of pesky moles. Both times I have used it I have impaled a mole within 24 hours. I didnt even have to move it around in different spots to get my kills either. The first one I got, the trap had been triggered but there was no mole to be found under the ground. I pulled out the trap and saw blood on one of the spikes and knew I had got him. The second one I got I found the lifeless body of a mole under the ground beneath the trap. This is truely a GREAT way to rid your yard of moles. I read bad reviews of the different types of poisons and electronic pulse thingys and decided to go right for the trap and I am glad I did. Average Rating:![]() |

All steel construction. Mole trap, kills moles, easy activation. Find active tunnels by flattening tunnels by walking on them. Wait one day. |

P3 International P7911 Sol Mate Solar Powered Mole & Gopher ChaserReviewsAfter reading the other reviews, we had high hopes that these chasers would help turn the tide in our fight against gophers. Unfortunately they did nothing, and I mean nothing, to help the cause. We have been using them for over a month and they have not deterred the gopher activity at all. We have even had gopher holes pop up next to the emitters! We have moved them around per the instructions, but all we get is the annoying beeping. Save your money - and buy traps instead. I can't say you'll never see another gopher, but I definitely noticed much less visible activity about a week after installing. It's been about a month now, and activity is still only sporatic. The gopher family doesn't seem to particularly like hanging around with this product in place. I ignored the coverage per square feet and significantly overlapped the area by placing the Mole & Gopher Chasers closer together. Seems to have worked for me. I bought two of these last year when I moved into a new house. The yard had tunnels that looked like railroad tracks all over it--front and back. I have pets so I didn't want to do poisons, so gave this a try. Within two weeks, the tunneling quit! I had put one in the front yard and one in the back, and was delighted when the little buggers quit leaving their underground trails all over. I just ordered two more--they only last a year unless you can get the top off and replace the aaa battery, which costs as much as buying a new unit. I definitely think they are worth it. I have sandy loam soil so I don't know how they would work in clay based soil. Love the fact they are charged by the sun. Be sure and place where they will receive the most sunlight. They work for a few days without sun if you're having a rainy overcast spell. The other types have to have batteries (c-d cell) several times per year, but can be placed in shady areas. Don't bother buying one they are a rip-off. There' solar so if you don't have sun? They don't work. Even being in the ground(when there is sun) You can hear the unit beeping. Drives me away not the gophers. Battery powered ones are much better, and quieter Average Rating:![]() |
