Just did my first mow of the spring with my new Lawn Boy. The mower started on the first pull, as advertised. The startling thing is how smooth and quiet the engine runs. Really smooth, no vibration at the handle, and a muffler that makes it pleasant to be around. Wide Range of height adjustment on the wheels. Pulls everything into the bag. Turns easily on it's fat tires. Light - easy to push. Plenty of power for thick grass. Inexpensive.

I was hoping this mower would "start with the first pull" after I got it all set up, but it didn't. In fact pulled half a dozen times with no go, and finally put some starter spray in the air intake and got it started. It did assemble quickly, and appears to be rugged. Good features: saftey cover over exhaust to prevent hand burns from hot exhaust, no blub for priming mower for starts, easy to use handle, wide fat tires, Briggs and Stratton engine. Less than good features: height adjustment is very very very difficult for those with old hands like mine...the spring to adjust the height on the wheels is way too strong...looks like made for a locomotive! There is no "on mower" indication of which way is up or down on the wheel adjustment; grass catcher is difficult to remove and attach. All in all, a fairly nice mower. the company that makes this mower should work on the wheel height thing and the grass catcher assembly to make them easier to use.

Great little mower. I have been very pleased with it so far, and it has always started on the first pull for me! Probably the only thing i would change is the handel joint connection. I have to fit it in a small shed and need to fold the handel down every time, and it takes a couple minutes to work the bolts/connectors to the point where i can fold it down.

I had shopped reviews online for a number of different push mowers before deciding to go with the Lawn-Boy. We had recently bought a new house with a small back and side yard to maintain. This mower has been great so far(have only used it twice...long term durability remains to be seen). It is easy to operate and maintain, and starts on the first pull every time. Was also eligible for free delivery which made it a no brainer for me at a price between $240-$260. Quick delivery, satisfied buyer.

I purchased this lawnmower after a reasonable amount of review reading and research online. We have newly laid sod that had been growing for about a month or so, watering nearly every day. The last mower I used would have needed to cut about three times (granted, it was getting old and we didn't sharpen the blades) to get through the thick grass we have. This cut right through everything. The only minor downside is the needing to overlap enough on the next pass to pick up the grass that was flattened by the wheels on the first pass. Great mower, and I'd recommend it to anyone!

My first delivery arrived damaged. The box had been opened and then resealed. After close inspection, I believe that it may have been damaged in transit, scrapes on both sides, one of the rear height adjustments was out of alignment. Damage to the box. I called customer service and was very pleased with Amazon.com's service. The terms state no returns, however since this mower arrived damaged, and no oil or gas was added, a return authorization and replacement all within 2 days! I could have received a full refund. The replacement is perfect. It was very easy to assemble, and started at the first try. Excellent mower at the right price. I am a very happy customer. Works well and does start on the first pull - at least, so far. Very light weight and maneuverable but sturdy. I like the wider than normal wheels that don't dig in on soft areas or where the grass growth is somewhat sparse. The variable speed control is a little too easy to go too fast because as the mower goes over small bumps or roots below grass my pressure on the "go grip" varies and it tries to take off. I'm going to add a piece of tubular foam insulation for pipes over the top of the handle to ensure it doesn't come back too far.

I agree with all the other reviews that say this is a great mower for the price in terms of cut, power and mulching. I bought it in April from my local Home Depot in PA to cut my quarter acre yard. The mower worked great for 6 months until this week. I was mowing for about 20 minutes when the mower stalled for no apparent reason. Acted like it was out of gas. After a few pulls it would start again but only run for 30 - 60 seconds. Decided after 5 attempts at this to let the engine cool and see if I could run another 20 minutes. Nope - just starts and stalls again after 30 - 60 seconds. My symptom sounds a lot like the problem R. They called within 1 day and claimed the cylinder sleeve was scored and there was no compression. They said it appeared to be run with no oil in the engine. That is not true - I bought it new - in a box - so unless it was damaged at manufacture, there is no way this mower was run with NO oil. I asked if they saw a leak and if there was oil in it now. (I check oil level every week). They said NO leak and yes the oil was full. Also it does start and run for 60 seconds so how could there be NO compression? Anyway they made me call Lawn Boy as they believe damage is not covered under warranty. Lawn Boy took down my info and they are investigating. They promised to call back in a few days. I will post their response. My advice so far...save your warranty info on this mower. UPDATE (1/15/2010) Lawn Boy directed me to a different local repair shop. The original shop, RAY'S MOWER SHOP basically said the mower could not be fixed???? I picked up the mower (in pieces) and there was no charge. The new shop (MILLER EQUIPMENT CO) found no cylinder scoring. They re-assembled the mower, saw the original shut-off problem and installed a new safety cable. It worked for about 30 minutes again and shut off. Then MILLLER EQUIP found a TSB about miss-drilled holes for the safety bar on the mower push handle. That must have been my original problem and now the mower is fixed. And all the work Miller Equipment did was covered under Lawn Boy warranty. Thanks!

Received the shipment in good condition. Looks and runs great - started on the first pull. Very Good Value!! The self-propelled system is far better than the so-called "Easy Stride". It's controllable, "Easy Stride" isn't. Lawn-Boy will exist no longer, after this model year. At present, Toro does NOT offer a self-propeled model like this one. BIG MISTAKE for them??

Took the mower out of box and had it up and running in less than 10 minutes. The variable speed self propel is a very good feature. Highly recommend this product.
