Yes, I have to remember to turn it off when I go in the backyard, but it does not spray that much, mostly makes noise which startles the forest critters. Though our neighbours grandkids think it is blast to run through on hot day, which is fine. However the spray head is made completely of plastic and after 1 1/2 summers of duty, the nub that holds that top flapper broke off. Lucky enough the plastic head is a standard design and I found the same head (metal construction) at Home Depot on one of those ground stakes, bought,took it off the stake and installed it into the Scarecrow and back in business. I would still recommend this unit highly as it really does work and is worth the effort if you want the deer to stay out of your garden.

I have had problems with cats using my yard and garden as a litter box. I tried everything from using organic, chemicals, and even going midevil by buring boards with nails sticking up. But those buggers would find an empty spot and go there. So this was my last resort and it has been a blessing! No more stinky cat poop in my yard :) If you have problems with any animals I would recommend this product!!

I purchased this thing because I grow and sell Koi in a large outdoor pond. We had a great big blue heron come a callin in addition to the kingfishers and osprey in our area and I just wasn't feeling very secure. I didn't want to use netting to protect the fish as the natural surroundings would be compromised. I hooked up this thing in less than 20 minutes and had it working. It works like a charm and no more big bad birds! PS put the stickers on before you bring it outdoors, its alot earlier. I will be buying another when my additional pens are complete. [...]

My dogs do not like it. My wife likes her garden dog free, I do not like the hesitation before it comes on. It could be a little quicker. The sprinkler's spray cannot be adjusted. It has a single stream of water and it shoots high.

I wanted to keep the cats out of my garden and it has done just that.

I have been wanting one of these for years. I finally purchased one 2 summers ago after pouring over reviews for months. My expectation was that the Nelson 1865 might last a season or two, during which I would gain personal experience sufficient to invest in something more durable. I am now pleasantly surprised. The major sign of wear is some fading to the yellow paint due to sun exposure. I don't put it away often enough. Otherwise, no mechanical failures. It has been great fun to just watch or play with on a hot day when needing to cool down. It is frankly mesmerizing and relaxing after a complicated day at work. The large wheels have no difficulty on low or high speed moving smoothly through grass that is at least 3-4 inches in length. I typically choose the slow speed for a deeper soaking and water once or twice a week. Most of the time it navigates well over a coupling used to repair the hose. On rare occasions if the hose-coupling protrudes too much it trips the shut-off value. The sprinkler has only failed to stop once with the included brake. However, I will admit it has had some spectacular crashes when the operator forgot to set the brake ramp (a separate plastic component that is included). In one of these crashes it attempted to crawl up the side of the plastic rain-gutter extension piece in my back yard. The crash resulted in a roll over with one sprinkler arm projected straight up and the resultant spray travelling over 25-30 feet upward in the air and arcing more than 30 feet forward over my steeply sloped side lawn. An amazed young boy attending a party next door spotted a beautiful descending stream of water pouring along the side my house from far overhead, complete with a full spectrum rainbow. Of course, he couldn't see the tractor "wreck" in my backyard. With an utterly incredulous look on his face, he came over to ask whether my house had exploded and was leaking or whether it really was raining from just one hole in the sky!!! Occasionally the sprinkler arms need to be tightened. Even without such crashes, they typically require repositioning on nearly every use. The reason is that its spring-loaded shut-off valve is located below the main body. It stays closed once it has been triggered by the brake until all water pressure is out of the feeder line, or the hose has been disconnected. Thus the act of reopening the spring valve generally requires that I turn the sprinkler on its side. The valve can be cranky. So the process is a mild annoyance. This situation might be improved by putting in an extention to the hose attachment leaving my hand a little more room to manuever next to the body of the tractor. I guess I have not been bothered enough to worry about it. Overall. I feel like I indulged a childhood pleasure to purchase it. No regrets. There are clearly numerous creative opportunities for special effects and light shows. Thus far, after nearly 2 seasons I don't see any need for a replacement.

This is an excellent product and works trouble free. Repair parts are readily available should they be needed.

1 is way too many stars for this product. The main unit is cast metal and weighs perhaps 20#. The gears are light weight plastic and have a life expectancy of about 50 hours. That comes to $1 per hour cost of operation. Of course, there is no warranty. I understand they used to have metal gears and would last a lifetime. But alas, now they are made in China (in spite of what the catalog sheet says) and are junk. I wouldn't bother to try to use it, if someone gave me one - much less buy it!

This is a great sprinkler if you're just needing to put a small amount of water down. The most it can put down in one pass is 1/2" of water. It is typically better to water deeply vs. just get the top part of the soil wet, which this seems to do. My grass is very thick, so it takes more water to get down to the roots, but when it gets down there, it stays for awhile, because the soil is clay, and the grass is thick. It takes a certain amount of water to get the grass blades saturated enough to let the water begin soaking into the ground. When I only have a 1/2" of water to work with each time, it doesn't seem to get much into the soil, promoting a shallow root system. Other then that, this sprinkler is very easy to use. It's not very precise, but that didn't bother me much at all because I have a large lawn. Nelson's customer service is outstanding! They replaced the entire gear mechanism on it with only spending a few minutes on the phone.

I have 3 of these and have replaced the gearbox in all 3 and now all 3 are stripped out again. Won't buy another 1.

Just screw this on to your water hose faucet or on to the washer hose connections to test your water pressure. My house only has 25lbs of pressure which is what I needed to know. Mine didn't feel up with water like someone else mentioned, it didn't leak (yet), and is easy to install and uninstall. I should mention that $8 is a good deal considering I couldn't find one anywhere here in town at any hardware stores and was even told by a lot of 'professionals' that such a thing didn't even exist... thanks Amazon!

Gauge works good, but if the faucet you are testing is leaking, water can dribble into the housing of the gauge and fill it up with water. I don't think this affects the accuracy. It's just annoying. A little glue or caulk can seal the top of the housing of the gauge and eliminate the problem.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Very durable. Brass connector, medal housing painted black, plastic window. Mine doesn't fill up with water when I use it so I'm assuming that if yours does, it has some sort of defect. Mine looks exactly like the picture.

I bought this Rain Bird P2A Water Pressure Gauge because I need to measure the water pressure in the house before deciding on various types of Reverse Osmosis (RO) water filtering system. If your water pressure is above 45 PSI, then you can buy a RO system without pressure pump, which is more costly. This water pressure gauge is great. I attached it to the faucet that normally connects to my washing machine's water inlet via a rubber hose. You must install the provided O-Ring correctly so that there will be no water leakage. There is no instruction on how to do this. You should tighten the gauge to the faucet using a wide-opening plier. If you get water inside the meter face, it is not normal. You should get it replaced. This does not happen to mine. As stated on the web page, this thing is NOT returnable because it is a closeout item.

Does what it says. No frills, no hassle. This was step 1 of DIY sprinkler install. So far, it's been the easiest step.

I love this baby! Works like a charm and has multiple sprinkler nozzles! Like all impact heads, she does need some maintenance. But keep out the sodd and you find that it works just fine.

I agree with the other review, it's not the most intuitive to program. overall though, it was easy to install and works great after it's programmed. I think it's a great value for the price.

My major beef about this one is that it's a little hard to understand how to program. I had to reread the instructions several times and, finally, it worked! It appears to be doing a great job now and I like being able to group some of my sprinklers into the A program and others into the B.

The binoculars my daughter received as a party favor, which must have one 1/10 the price, work better than these binoculars. They barely magnify and it is very difficult to get them to focus. My daughter has given up and gone back to the party favor binoculars.

I wish there were a way to play with the focus -- I think my nieces would be more interested in playing with the binoculars if there were a focus knob. (I don't remember if the product description said the binoculars were single-focus only. If it did, I missed that part.) Otherwise, it's well-made and will withstand any amount of manhandling a kid can provide.

I bought these for my granddaughter. They are very cute and just what she would like, but they don't work. Magnification is minimal. I do not understand what other reviewers are saying because these do not magnify and the image is blurry and rainbowed. Nothing I would give to a child. My husband says what do you expect to get for this money and I guess he is right this time. Had to send these back, basically a cute piece of junk.

I order this right before christmas since my three year old requested santa claus bring her binoculars. this is exactly what i was looking for in color and shape. she uses it all the time and can't wait for it to be spring so she can look into the sky. You just got love melissa and doug toys!

These binoculars are great! They are just the right size for little eyes and are adjustable just like adult binoculars. The quality of the lens is good and it magnifies very well. My 2 and a hlaf year old daughter loves them and likes to take them everywhere with her. My one concern with the product is that the string to put them around your neck is short and my daughter struggles with it sometimes. It could be a safety hazzard in younger children as well.

Our children and all the other children who enjoy our great big water ball LOVE IT! I'm surprised by the negative reviews. To those who are having trouble with the ball filling with water, please make sure you understand the instructions. There are 2 ways to use it. You can insert water into a special pouch in the ball to keep it in one spot OR use it as a sprinkler ball as we do. We do not fill ours with water, though we did try it out once and had no trouble emptying the pouch. The ball itself is not supposed to fill with water when used in sprinkler mode. We have had it for 3 years and use it all spring and summer. Children (toddlers up to 9 and over 60 lbs!) roll it, roll onto it, and it handles it all.

We purchased this sprinkler because we were having a bbq where there would be a bunch of toddlers. It held up for hours of use and all the kids loved it. Almost every other parent was asking me where I got it because they wanted to get their own!

This is toy acumulates a lot of water inside and it is almost impossible take the water out.I am very desapointed

As others have said, but I just wanted to add my two cents, I got mine for $[...] at the grocery store and it was fun for about ten minutes until it filled with water. I finally managed to squeeze most of the water out but we never got it to work again.Don't buy!

We got this water fall as a gift for my kids 2&4. They had fun with it while it last, but that wasn't long. The ball filled with water, and won't work any more.

Thank you Melissa & Doug for a durable product. I will continue to seek out your toys for our camps! The summer day camp program at our school relies heavily on sprinklers for the water play part of each day. So far we have gone through numerous sprinklers and I am amazed at how cheaply these things are made. Especially since our children handle them rarely, if ever. THIS sprinkler, however, looks adorable and is completely functional and well-made.

Melissa and Doug make some great stuff. I thought they leaned on the green side of the fence, but not with this sprinkler. I thought it would be a fine mist that would spray out. Instead it's a ton of water. Thick streams of water spray out of the flowers. I also thought the flowers would wiggle when it was turned on. No wiggling, the streams are constant. My daughter likes this but gets bored fairly fast with it. This is a good thing because it wastes so much water, I'm happy to shut it off.

I got this for my 2 and 3 year old this summer. I love that the flowers are flexible, so my kids don't hurt their little toes. There is some leaking at the hose connector, but it isn't a big deal. My kids and neighbors (3 and 4) ahve a blast with this!

My daughter is two and she loves this sprinkler. The water comes out gently enough for a small child to play with and not be scared of the water. The individual flowers are flexible so if it's stepped on, the flowers move to the sides of the foot. Would recommend for children under 6 or so.

This is a great product and squirts the water evenly in the air and not just in one place. My little girl and her cousins had lots of fun running through this sprinkler. She also felt like she planted the flowers on the sprinkler with her garden set from Melissa and Doug.

The book represents a powerful opportunity to understand those basic concepts that characterize water based fire suppression systems. Chapters are very well written and plenty of examples which represents an helpful tool to gain a deeper understanding. For those whose have deep knowledge in the subject area already, I do advice to get the book anyway. It is essential for a good personal collection.

it is a really powerful tool for everyone that wants to enter the fire sprinkler bussiness.I always recomend it and actually i am trying to by a copy.

I would not advise anyone to purchase this book. I bought it because we want to install a sprinkler system in our back yard next spring. The title of this book makes you think it will help you do this. However, when you get the chapter on underground sprinkler systems the author basically tells you not to even try it, just hire a professional because there's no way you will ever be able to understand all the intricacies involved in installing a sprinkler system. He actually has a very condescending attitude toward the reader. I was not impressed with this book...at all. If I had been able to review it before buying it I would not have purchased it.

This book is titled for DIY but nearly every chapter seems to start with advising us to consult with and/or hire a professional. I got more information on planning and layout from websites of system manufacturers than from this book. There is a reasonably good summary of different types and it might be OK as a guide if you're planning on hiring a professional anyway but this is not a DIY nuts and bolts kind of guide.

I'm grateful for the other reviewers that led me to choose this item even though it doesn't look like much on the shelf. In practice it works really well. The sizing and spacing of the holes is well designed. It's easy to connect and the way the water sprays out hit the spot with my toddlers. They have fun with it turned down low and turned up high. When it's down low they enjoy covering some of the holes with their feet and seeing the effect on the output from the other holes. They also love to run around with it when empty and dropping doesn't seem to hurt it. I'm glad I got it.

You know when I first passed this in the store my 2 year old baby girls went nuts & wanted it, I honestly thought it was going to be another piece of junk. I am so surprised & happy we got the sprinkler for her, it is perfect & even safe, if she falls on it it is round with no sharp corners. This totally does the trick & is a hit with our play dates. Simple, durable, safe, and it works, I can't ask for more.

Our daughter loves this toy and it is very durable. The sprinkles that come out can go up to seven or eight feet in the air. It has a rubberized exterior, so when it is not used as a sprinkler our daughter likes to carry it around. It has been dropped several times by myself and the rubberized exterior helps keep it safe. The hose connection part is hard plastic and so I can see that possibly breaking if I dropped the sprinkler on that part. However, that possibility exists with any product. I highly recommend the Mollie Sprinkler. It is well worth the money!

I bought this sprinkler for my 2 yr old daughter. I have no complaints, she loves it, works well, and is an adorable design.

This little Ladybug Sprinkler is soooooo cute. I got it for my daughter and her friends and they have had a blast playing in the water with the little ladybug sprinkler. My daughter will tell Checkers at the grocery store about her Ladybug sprinkler and they will look at me with a puzzled look on their face, I will then have to explain to them what she is talking about. Great little toy for hot summer days. I think this little sprinkler will create great childhood memories :)

I really wasn't expecting much out of this sprinkler, bought it because it was cute. Got it and still wasn't impressed. But then I hooked it up! It really surprised me with how well it worked, and the height of the spray. Very cute little sprinkler for my young kids.

This is a great water toy for a toddler! I was a little concerned with how small it is, as I assumed my son would trip on it, but it's fine. The water comes out of the holes very well and if you turn the faucet all the way up, the sprinkles go really high and wide! My 17 month old loves this toy, and he always wants to play with it when we go out... I think it's pretty fun, too! This is VERY GOOD for playdates outside... just let them run and giggle, but have a towel nearby!

I bought this item hoping the kids would run and have fun. Well I have a 3 year old and a 7 year old. We had visitors that were 5 and 7 and they all sat in chairs and watch the water come up from the turtle. They didn't play in the water so we turned it off and it is pretty much just taking up space now. Didn't entertain my kids or neighbor kids.

I bought this sprinkler toy after I had already a purchased a spinning Sponge Bob sprinkler head. My son did not like the spinning toy at all. The turtle stays put and sprays water up and out. My 18 month old loves running through and playing with this on the lawn. Even when he's not playing, he just likes to watch it spray the lawn. I had read that it was hard to attach to the sprinkler head, but I have had no problems whatsoever getting it on or taking it back off. Its also been dropped on the cement several times and hasn't gotten a dent yet. Love this!!!

Fantastic product! Bought one for my daughter and one for the daycare center and they get lots of use!

This raindrip sprinkler kit was a bit disappointing. The so called manual it came with was more of a basic non-descriptive overview of having a sprinkler system. It did not come with a manual of how to set the system up for beginners, how each part fit together, even an inventory list and which sprinkler head was the 180 degree and which was the 90 degree sprinkler heads, I just tried them and figured it out later. Also, make sure you are absolutely sure you have the hose going on the right sprinkler because the sprinkler/hose connections are flimsy and easy to break, which I have already done. It is a good system after trying to figure out what to do, but I will probably look at another brand next time. The Raindrip drip kit is a better quality and has a very descriptive booklet of how to set it up. I recommend instead to get that then order separately the sprinkler heads and steaks and institute them into the drip system instead. I did that and it turned out better for me and now have semi maintenance-free front landscape.

Purchased for my wife. She originally bought this system from Lowes for her Garden, and loved how well it works.When she expanded her Garden she needed another system, but Lowes was out of them, so i ordered from Amazon.She wouldn't settle for any other Brand or system. She feels it's the best system available,especially for the price. Jim M.

Raindrip Low-Flow Sprinkler Kit #R547DP DID NOT include instructions inside the package. Instructions printed on the box were covered by the shipping label. When the label was removed, the instructions were not readable. A search of the shippers website presented the instructions in PDF format. However, this was a picture of the instructions on the box and it was blurry (again not readable).

I am a University of Florida master gardener and have experience using the microirrigation system at our county extension demonstration gardens. I have been wanting to do my own flower beds at home but just couldn't seem to get started. This system was a perfect starter setup that I can easily add on to at any time. The instruction were very helpful as far as layout and design. Even without the experience I feel as though anyone could set up this system. Sue

I have not had an opportunity to use the sprinkler system as it will not be set up until next spring. I have used three Raindrip drip systems this last summer and I am very satisfied with the Raindrip product. That is the reason I bought the sprinkler system.
